Born in Arizona, my parents moved my sister and me around the South before quite literally taking the Oregon trail back home to the West Coast. We drove from Charlotte, North Carolina to Hood River, Oregon in a little less than three weeks, though unlike the original pioneers we were in an RV with a TV and working plumbing, and it still took years off our lives.
Spending my formative years in Hood River spurred on my love of the Pacific Northwest and the amazing outdoors. We spent most summers at the river and winters up on Mt. Hood. Following my freshman year, I transferred to Lincoln High School in Portland where I finished out school before heading to the University of Oregon.
Following my first year in the business school, I came back to Portland for the summer to work at NikeTown, and that’s where things really clicked. I spent most of that summer working the soccer room, watching Nike’s “Write the Future” World Cup spot. It had such a profound effect on me that I decided to change my major to Advertising with the long-term goal to be the Global Brand Director for Liverpool F.C. – why not dream big right?
I graduated from Oregon in 2013, picking up a second major in Public Relations and minor in Business along the way. Following graduation, I had the opportunity to cut my teeth in the agency world, starting in experiential marketing, working for sporting goods giants like adidas, Columbia, and The North Face. Wanting to continue to diversify my brand skill set, I moved to a social/digital agency where I had the opportunity to help launch YouTube Music’s social presence amongst a team of immensely talented people. After a successful launch YouTube decided to take its agency work in house and I was one of an unfortunate chunk of the agency team to be laid off, but what road worth taking doesn’t have its speed bumps along the way?
Following my time at Swift, I took a one-year contract as the NikePlus Membership Marketing Manager for North America, where I had the opportunity to buildout seasonal plans and initiatives around Nike’s membership loyalty program – including launching its first ever NikePlus Member Days. Then the pandemic hit…
Like so many of us, 2020 was a rough year for me, bouts of unemployment, two knee surgeries, and a cycling accident resulting in a fractured skull to name a few. While it was trying at so many times, it also had some of the highest highs - I got married to an amazing woman, got to spend more time with our pets, and had the opportunity to do some freelance work on launches for Playstation exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2.
After my short stint as a freelancer, I spent a year as an Account Supervisor on the Google account at Splash Worldwide (now Jellyfish), before moving back to Nike as a Brand Manager for the North America Women’s Running team.
Outside of work, I spend my time with my amazing wife Lauren, our two Siberian Huskies, Pax and Pleia, and our enormous Maine Coon cat, Simon. You can usually find us on some outdoor adventure like hiking the gorge, exploring Costa Rica, or running Hood to Coast. You can check some of these out below!
